"Turn Giant and power up! Mow down enemies with wide-range attacks!" ― In-Game Description
Become Giant is the Namekian-exclusive Awoken Skill available to CaCs. In Dragon Ball, the form is utilized by Piccolo, Orange Piccolo and Lord Slug, though none of them can utilize the transformation in game.
It is unlocked by completing the quest Namekian Awakening!
In Game Data[]
- Decription: Turn Giant and power up! Mow down enemies with wide-range attacks!
- Ki required: 300
- Obtained from: Guru's House time rift, upon completion of Namekian Awakening!
Properties[]
- User drops to the bottom of the stage and grows to a size comparable to great apes
- User gains a type of Hyper Armor
- Unlike regular Hyper Armor, Giant Namekians seem to be immune to effects that normally break the guard or armor fully
- Instead of taking damage to health, they take stamina damage when attacked
- Cannot guard, or rather it can be thought of as if they are ALWAYS guarding while in this form
- User obtains a new moveset
- User gains ki regeneration
- There is a constant stamina stamina drain to maintain the form.
- Any movement or melee attacks drain additional stamina.
- Upon losing all stamina, user will be stamina broken, lose the transformation and be unable to transform until they regain stamina, similar to Kaioken.
- The form has no ultimates or evasive skill.
- Dash becomes a run on the ground, and makes them fly slightly faster in the air.
- Giant form has no step or step vanish, block or a Z vanish.
Moveset[]
Melee[]
- Light attack - Short-Range claw attack that can do a 3 hit combo, hitting the opponent away. Can lead into Heavy attack
- Heavy attack - Mid-Range arm attack that stretches your arm and knocks the opponent away. Does similar damage to the 3-hit combo w/the light attack.
- Ki Blast button - Mid-Range grab. Grabs them, squeezes, then tosses them away. Does around the same damage as one light attack.
- You do NOT need to use the block button to grab while in Giant Form.
- Character being grabbed must be around arm level of your Giant. Won't work if they're on the ground, you may need to adjust up or down.
- The fly button - Works as normal, flies the character up or down.
- The form also has a dash attack, though it's the same for both light and heavy buttons.
Ki Blasts[]
- Skill Button + Light Attack -> Short Range Mouth Cannon -> Fires Ki Blast Down at a 30 degree angle from the mouth
- Skill Button + Heavy Attack -> Mid Range Mouth Cannon -> Fires Ki Blast in a straight line from the mouth.
- Skill Button + Ki Blast Button -> Long Range Mouth Cannon -> Fires Ki Blast up at a 30 degree angle from the mouth
- Skill Button + Evasive -> Evil Roar (Very Short Range) -> ***NOT RECOMMENDED TO USE IN BATTLE***
- Although in training mode it appears to have High Damage w/some knockback, in practice it's almost impossible to hit with this and is not recommended to be used ever.
Combos[]
- Heavy attack becomes a wide sweep and has no followups
- Light attack is three attacks long, first a downward right punch, then downward left punch and a right uppercut, the combo can also be started with a backhit.
- Pressing forward + light causes the player to do a heavy punch downwards, knocking enemies to the floor. It should also be noted that light combo can combo into forward + light, and in certain situations, forward +light can combo back into light combo for a deadly loop.
- Pressing forward + heavy causes the player to swing their arm forward in a straight line, hitting enemies from afar. Ki Blast is replaced with a grab, where the Namekian crushes their opponents in his hands and then throws them forward.
- It should be noted, at close range the mouth blasts can be combo-ed into each other (EX: Short Range MB > Mid Range MB > Mid Range MB).
Regular supers are replaced with three variants of mouth cannon for different distances, and evil roar, similar to that of Great Apes, though orange in color.
Usage Tips[]
Practice Combos in Training Mode[]
Due to how fast stamina drains in this form, it is difficult to get sufficient practice using it in regular battle to learn how to use it effectively. Due to this, it is recommended to spend some time in Training Mode using the offline battle robots at the Time Machine Station, turning Stamina Recovery and simply practicing using moves against the CPU.
Start with a stationary target to get a feel for how much damage each move does, then use weak AI and increase from there.
Weaknesses[]
- High stamina drain
- Slow speed
- Melee attacks and movement cost stamina
- The lack of a guard or any type of Z-Vanish.
- Ki Blast Ultimate skills can easily melt your stamina and cause you to become stamina broken
- To counter this, if an ultimate is about to be used, either release the form so you can evade, or try to spam ki blasts to do enough damage to them so that their stamina breaks before you.
- Tends to be weak in very large stages or in the sky, due to its slow speed.
- Practice with judging the distance for ki blasts can mitigate this
Never let your stamina run out in Giant Form unless:
- A: Your opponent is far enough away to give you time to counter any attacks they'll try to punish you with <===OR===>
- B: You grab them right before the stamina break to make yourself unpunishable upon transforming back. <===OR===>
- C: You have a build that relies on being stamina broken (depends on using certain super souls)
Strengths[]
- High basic attack damage
- High Ki Blast Damage
- Ki regeneration
- Tends to be strong on small stages with little space to run
Creating the right build can result in extremely high damage. Always follow up Light Combo with either heavy to knock them away and get some time to transform back, or follow up with Forward + light to do massive damage and potentially loop back into light combo. Take advantage of Giant Form's ki regeneration to stop your opponent's attempts to recover by pressuring them with Mouth Blasts.
It is important to note that when this form is used correctly it can change the tides of battle massively as stamina damage and high dps makes this a terrifying awakening to see in battle.
Synergistic Super Souls[]
Recommended super souls to pair with this form include "Let's see you handle THIS kind of power!" and "Power! A lotta power! It's great!" The former reduces the stamina drain and boosts all attacks by 15% when transformed and the latter super soul increases maximum Ki and Stamina, allowing the form to sustain longer as well as being able to spam more attacks from the altered moveset.
- "Let's see you handle THIS kind of power" - While Giant, boosts strength of all attacks and activates stamina auto-recovery. Makes Giant Form Last longer.
- Can only be obtained from the Great Ape Baby Online Raid.
- "I have an unlimited energy supply!" -Activates Ki Autorecovery Mode. Coupled with the Ki Recovery of Giant mode, this super soul will make it so you can almost have infinite Ki, gaining Ki almost as fast as you can use the Mouth Blast attacks.
- Obtained from TP Medal Shop rotation.
- "I'll surpass you as I am, with my OWN power!" - Shortens time for guard break. When guard is broken, boosts all attacks and boosts stamina recovery speed. Can stack up to 5 times.
- Obtained from DLC Parallel Quest 174: "Hyper Special Training"
- "A power-biased transformation..." -Increases basic attack damage, decreases damage received. Disables blocking and decreases mobility.
- Can only be created in the Mixing Shop using "I can easily regenerate this" + "I came to kill you". Both can be obtained from the item shop.
- "You need to be more careful." - One time only, will instantly recover from guard break with full stamina. One time only, recover 5 bars of stamina when opponent uses ultimate attack. Useful for PvP.
- Obtained from DLC Parallel Quest 157: "Whis's Training: Gohan's Awakening"
- "I like you better when you're mad!" - When guard is broken, shortens time of guard break by 20% and restores 50 ki.
- Obtained from Parallel Quest 109
- "GAAAGH" - When guard is broken, shortens time of guard break by 25%.
- Obtained from Parallel Quest 128
