"It's up to me to keep everyone safe!" ― Character Select
Gohan (DBS Super Hero) is the 38th DLC character to be added to Dragon Ball: Xenoverse 2. He is the 6th playable Gohan character, and was released on November 10th, 2022 alongside Gamma 1 & 2 as part of the Hero Of Justice Pack 1 DLC.
He plays a semi-major role in the movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero. After Gohan finds out that the Red Ribbon Army (Piccolo) had captured Pan, he inflitrates their base and proceeds to go on and fight against Gamma 1, cycling through Super Saiyan (1) to his Potential Unleashed state, the two matching each other almost evenly. Eventually, the two stop fighting and put aside their differences for the greater threat at hand, Cell Max.
It quickly becomes evident that the brute is too much for everyone to handle, and as Gohan prepares to charge up Ki for an attack, he witnesses Orange Piccolo being overwelmed by Cell Max before suddenly...the Beast within Gohan, awakens...

Story Mode[]
Gohan (DBSSH) plays a major role in the Story Mode for the Hero Of Justice Pack 2 DLC. As the Androids (Gamma 1, 2 & Android 16) make their way into West City (Industrial Area), Piccolo pulls Gohan along before suddenly stopping mid-air after being noticed, in which the former reveals his new power to Gohan.
The two make their way towards the Androids, teaming up with the player as they engage in a fight with all three. Piccolo, despite his new form, finds himself overwelmed, in which Gohan takes notice of and transforms into his Potential Unleashed state, now evening the odds a bit. Gohan clashes with Gamma 1 and as he holds him off, he takes notice of Piccolo & Gamma 2's fight, noticing the former being overwelmed once more...until...a firey aura erupts from the ground, revealling a familar yet noticeably different Piccolo. Unlike in canon, Orange Piccolo makes his grand debut in West City.
When the Gammas are forcefully put down the first time by the Future Warrior, Gohan and Piccolo, the three then has to fight them again, only, the Gammas are given a (Supervillain) boost from Fu. However, the fight is put to a halt when Android 21 informs them that the tank holding Cell Max had burst open, in which Fu theorizes it had something to do with overloading his data. As a result of this mishap, Gohan, Piccolo & the Future Warrior agree to team up with the Androids despite Dr. Hedo's reluctance to do so.
As Fu lures Cell Max out into the Wasteland, everyone gets ready to fight the brute...only for their efforts to be put into vain. So much so, both Android 16 & Gamma 2 were willing to put their lives on the line. However, the player is only able to save one, meaning, an entirely different cutscene will appear should they choose to save one over the other.
If the player chooses to save Android 16, Gamma 2 will fly in and sacrifice himself using Core Breaker and although it didn't do the job, it kept Cell Max in place long enough for Gohan & Piccolo to fly in and stun him into place, allowing for more time for Gamma 1 (who uses Gamma 2's blaster), 16 & 21 to charge up their blasts.
If the user chooses to save Gamma 2, Android 16 will sacrifice himself in an attempt to put a dent into the monsterous brute. The Gamma's go to retrieve his body and as Cell Max prepares to put his foot down on the Androids, Piccolo flies in and momentarily holds his foot off long enough for the Gammas to escape. Because Krillin wasn't there to help fight off Cell Max and remind Piccolo he could grow in size, he ends up getting stomped on. Gohan watches on helplessly...but then...something inside him snaps...
Combos[]
- Light String (9L): 7th hit knocks the opponent away, 8th chases after them and smacks the opponent forward before zooming in and ending it off with a kick. Can be followed up with a fully charged Masenko or Hawk Charge.
- Heavy String (5H): Gohan flies back and delivers a kick. Due to the long startup, this first hit leaves him wide open. The combo is then followed by two more kicks, a punch and two knockaway kicks.
- LHH: Two punches and a rotating kick that sends the opponent foward.
- 5L3H: Starts off briefly with the light string attack. 7th hit kicks opponent up before Gohan vanishes to reappear above the opponent and deliver a hard knockdown with his elbow. Hawk Charge can easily follow after.
- Alternating String (HLHLH): A revamped, slightly sleeker version of Gohan (Adult)'s HLHLH combo string. If Gohan performs this while near the ground (or any ground-like surface), he can land Super Dragon Flight.
- Grab: Reaches forward for the opponents leg. Swings them around a few times before throwing them away. Same as his Adult counterpart.
- Light Break: Moves right arm back, before striking hard for the opponent's gut.
- Heavy Break: Moves left arm back before hitting with a hard knockdown.
- Backhit: Two quick kicks.
Usage Tips[]
His Super Soul, "Heh Heh! I'm not as rusty as I look!" has guard break recovery time increased by 10% permanently & requires a Just Guard (Perfect Block) for the better effects to activate. If you succeed in Just Guarding, it boosts all your attacks by 10% which can be stacked up to three times.
Hawk Charge is one of the few moves that can easily land into all of his combo strings whether it be mid-combo or by the end of it. Additional inputting will consume 100 more Ki in return for an extension for the move. The last hit has tracking-like properties.
Masenko can be charged and can also follow up on the last hit of Hawk Charge as well.
Super Dragon Flight, while damaging, is very tricky to land. Although you could use a charged heavy to connect it with, using it as a conductor will leave you wide open due to Gohan flipping back before his heavy hits. He suffers the same problem as Majin Buu (Gohan Absorbed) in that their initial heavy attacks take way too long to hit.
His Super Kamehameha works as a counter, where if hit from behind or from any direction during charge up stage, will instantly teleport you behind the opponent to unleash the attack, much like Warp Kamehameha.
As decent as Gohan (DBSSH) is, his glaring weaknesses are not to be ignored. From his atrocious stamina distribution, wide open initial heavy and long transformation time for his Potential Unleashed form, this variant of Gohan can be seen as unattractive to use (and understandably so). But, if you're familar with Gohan (Adult)'s own combos and see past his weaknesses, you can argue that Gohan (DBSSH) can be seen as the improvement and a good character to use overall.
Trivia[]
- This Gohan has a new animation for his Potential Unleashed form, in that he takes off his glasses before transforming.
- His skillset and combos are slightly modified with new animations and such. Hawk Charge, for example, is a 5-hit combo attack rather than it being a 2-hit combo strike for CaC's and other users of this move.
- In the game files, he has colours avaliable for a Super Saiyan transformation.
