Hard Knockdown is a gameplay mechanic and a property of certain attacks in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2.
Properties[]
An opponent in a hard knockdown is stuck lying on the ground, unable to recover for a period of time, though still able to use vanishes and evasives. Depending on the forced recovery of a move that caused it, this state will last long enough to land most of the slow supers and even ultimates, though not all. In order to activate a hard knockdown, the specific attack with this property has to knock down an opponent close enough to the ground, if they were too high at that moment, they will be able to recover normally. Additionally hitting an opponent in a hard knockdown state with an attack like basic melee will restand them.
Usage[]
Using this mechanic can help you deal high amounts of damage to your opponent, without letting them recover all their stamina like they would you broke their stamina instead, which means it is especially helpful against Female Majins who can quickly recover their stamina if broken, or other people who have low stamina. Since the hard knockdowns require the opponent to be close to ground when hit, most of the combos for it work only when started on the ground, and so if you want to try to use one of them, you should try to stay grounded. Be careful of ending up too close to your opponent, or trying to use melee skills, as they will be able to vanish behind you if they have enough stamina and you're close enough.
