Hyper Armor is a gameplay mechanic in Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 that prevents the user from flinching and taking damage. Not to be mistaken for Super Armor.
Properties[]
Hyper Armor makes the user take damage to stamina instead of health, stops them from flinching as well as makes them immune to grabs. However while under effect of it, the user can be stamina broken by guard breaking attacks, such as charged attacks, Arm Crash or reverse burst dash. Since the armor takes damage to stamina, it is not active while the user is stamina broken, though if it was granted by a buff that still lasts, it will reactivate once user regains their stamina. Similarly to Super Armor, or block, combos will not register against an enemy under effect of Hyper Armor, and they cannot be knocked back.
It can never be active together with Super Armor. If you are under effect of a buff that gives you Super Armor, you will remain only under effect of Super Armor even while using skills that would grant you Hyper Armor. If you try to use both Pose F and Pose K, only the latter's buff will apply.
Usage and Counterplay[]
Most common presence of Hyper Armor is with ultimate attacks, as most of them protect their user this way. This makes it useful for PvE, as it might prevent stray ki blasts from disrupting your attack, however due to reverse burst dash having a guard breaking effect, this armor is often more of a liability than a boost, as it allows the opponent to quickly break the stamina of their opponent from lock on range. For a more free usage, you can use Pose F, which will grant you the effect without restricting you into the specific attack, as well as allow you to avoid guard breaking hits.
