"Shenron really went the extra mile with that wish." ― Character Select/Story Mode
Orange Piccolo (オレンジ・ピッコロ Orenji Pikkoro) is a major DLC character added to Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2. He is the evolved version of Piccolo (Power Awakening), the 41st DLC character added, as well as the 3rd (technically 2nd) playable Piccolo character. He was added alongside Gohan (Beast) and his Power Awakening form on May 11th, 2023 as part of the Hero Of Justice Pack 2 DLC.
In the movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero, the form was first awakened after Piccolo (PA) had been pushed to his limits with his fight with Gamma 2, who he later defeats with one terrifying punch. Not long after, he'd utilize this very form to hold off the monsterous brute, Cell Max, even combining it with his Become Giant form. Unfortunately, Cell Max proves to be too much for the Namekian, leading to Orange Piccolo's defeat, all while Gohan is there to witness this happen, which in turn, awakens the Beast within him. Finally, with the efforts of Gohan (Beast), they were finally able to put a stop to him.

Parallel Quest 161 - "Scream Team vs. Dream Team"
Orange Piccolo's only appearance in the latest quests. He appears alongside Gohan (DBS Super Hero) after Gamma 1 and 2 is defeated. If the user defeats him first, it'll trigger Gohan into his Beast state. After Gohan (Beast) is defeated, Piccolo encourages him to keep going as the two recover and continue fighting.
Story Mode[]
In the Story Mode missions of Hero Of Justice Pack 2, alternate versions of events from the movie, Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero would take place. Rather than transforming at the Red Ribbon Army Base, Orange Piccolo makes his grand reveal in West City instead, encoated in a huge, fiery and orange pillar. He then goes on to help the player and Gohan fight against Gamma 1 and 2.
Later on, after discovering that they, were in fact, not the bad guys, he, Gohan, the player, the Gammas, Fu, Android 16 and Android 21 team up against Cell Max, now leading him into the Wasteland. After bringing down the brute's health, the player is given two options: "Save Gamma 1" & "Save Android 16". If the player chooses the former, Android 16 will use his own Self Destruct Device instead, leaving his body about to be crushed by Cell Max's foot. The Gammas fly in to retrieve Android 16's body but as they do so, Cell Max prepares to stomp them down. Orange Piccolo comes in and temporarily holds Cell Max's foot off, but without Krillin around to remind him of using his own giant form, Piccolo is eventually crushed himself. This leads to Gohan awakening his Beast state upon watching this unfold, becoming Gohan (Beast).
When Cell Max shows signs of tiring as mentioned by Gohan (Beast), Piccolo recovers from his injuries thanks to a Senzu Bean given by Fu, and together, he and Gohan (Beast) combine Special Beam Cannon's, piercing through Cell Max's head and defeating him for good.
In the alternate ending where Gamma 2 sacrifices himself, an entirely different cutscene will appear, most notably, Gohan doesn't get to awaken his Beast state and Piccolo isn't knocked out for the count. Instead, the two use the opportunity to stun the giant behemoth, allowing time for 16, 21 and Gamma 1 to charge their blasts.
Combos[]
- Light String (9L): Back and forth punching for the first few hits. Upon the fifth, it can immediately be followed up with a heavy break. Seventh hit is a slide kick, eighth sends the opponent flying and the ninth is a hard knockdown.
- Heavy String (5H): Tosses two Ki Blasts upon the last input. Can immediately use Fierce Fist afterwards.
- LHH: Quickly does a spin and slams the opponent onto the ground and can follow up with a Super Attack or a break. Has Infinite Combo potential.
- 5L3H: Starts off with the light string attacks before a kick is delievered, then followed up with a forearm hit that sends the opponent twirling behind him.
- Alternating String (HLHLH): Piccolo knee-kicks the opponent with his right leg upon the third hit, then elbows them into the ground before following up with a Finger Blast that erupts the ground below the opponent. The fourth hit is cancellable and can be replaced with another attack instead.
- Grab: Stretches right arm foward and drags the opponent towards him, same animation as Namek Finger. Is combo extendable.
- Light Break: Moves left arm back, before striking.
- Heavy Break: Same animation as LHH's knockdown.
- Backhit: Fires a purple Ki Blast behind identical to Paralyze Beam.
Usage Tips/Strengths & Weaknesses[]
Orange Piccolo's biggest weakness lies in the fact that he has terribly low stamina and an expensive Evasive Skill. Because of this, he may not be the most attractive to use. It doesn't help that Apocalyptic Burst is near impossible to land in any of his combos, with the most viable way of doing so is through a stamina break. His movement speed also contributes to his unattractiveness to use, due to being a bigger character. Compared to his Power Awakened counterpart, his combos aren't as complex.
Regardless of his downsides, he has other things that make up for them, such as his easy infinite combo string with LHH (Ki Blast Stun, a Step Dash forward then repeat the same or similar inputs), a simple and quick stamina break combo with his 5L, a combo continuable grab, decent health and good Super Attacks. Orange Piccolo's primary stat is his Strike power, his major and damaging skills being Strike-centric.
His Super Soul, "Shenron really went the extra mile." has permanent damage reduction by (10%) as well as an increase to an item's RNG drop. A decent SS all around.
Fierce Fist is arguably Orange Piccolo's best skill in his arsenal, as it can chase after an opponent upon any knockback and can combo into Super Explosive Wave. It can also be charged and is unblockable at max charge, as well as cancellable, which also saves the charge level on top of that, much like Crush Cannon.
Apocalyptic Burst, while difficult to land normally, but is very useful against opponents using longer Ultimate Attacks because it breaks the attackers guard if you continue holding the input of the move down, trapping them in an unvanishable-like cutscene. It comes out fast, which can catch any unsuspecting opponent off-guard. Some tips to land this require you to perform a stamina break first, then following up with something simple such as a LHH then holding the button down to remove the opponent from their juggled-like state. Applies only when near a ground-like surface and works within the small timeframe of the opponent's stamina recovery time.
Demonic Destruction, though not as good as Fierce Fist, can be deadly (and annoying) when prompting for his Infinite LHH Combo. Like Gigantic Rage, it has grab-like properties, meaning it instantly cancels out the opponents current action unless they're using a skill with Hyper Armor properties. It can follow up on other attacks if the user throws the opponent closer to or on the ground.
