Ultra Instinct is an Awoken Skill used by all CaCs.

- Obtained from: Challenging Jiren (Full Power) to a match. He can be found behind the Multiplayer Mode NPC beneath the steps to the Time Nest. Succeeding against Jiren (FP) will grant you access to Ultra Instinct.
Properties[]
As of Update 1.22.00, Ultra Instinct no longer burns 5 Ki bars for the user to transform. If the user is attacked while transforming, the opponent will either be sent away with a vicious aura burst or will cancel the opponent's current action with a counterattack instead.
Visually, the user takes on a new aura, their eye color changes to silver, and their hair color changes to silver as well (albeit with less sheen than Goku). This version of Ultra Instinct is solely based off of the completed version of the form used by Goku (Ultra Instinct).
The form's primary function is it's Auto-Dodge feature. The Auto-Dodge works similarly to Data Input, only being able to dodge basic melee attacks. The difference however, is that Ultra Instinct can also dodge Normal Ki Blasts as well. It will consume 100 Stamina if successful in dodging, much like Goku (Ultra Instinct). The user can then follow up with a counterattack immediately after the dodge for 100 Ki, dealing an approx. 15% damage.
Additonally, when guarding and holding the Heavy Attack input down, the user will be able to use Goku’s Surging Spirit charge skill. It’s properties are similar to Ultimate Charge but the charge rate is faster. This also means the user is able to have a free charge skill without needing to give up a skill slot, even though it’s only available with the Awoken Skill active.
The user's Charged Ki Blasts are replaced by Soaring Fist and Spirit Pulse. Soaring Fist is used by shortly holding down the Ki button, while Spirit Pulse needs to be charged longer. Regular Ki blasts used to be replaced with Soaring Fist but as of Update 1.22.00 basic Ki blasts are added for quick inputs, with Soaring Fist for a light charge and Spirit Pulse for a full charge, allowing the user to Ki stun/cancel while using the Awoken Skill.
There is no increase to attack damage, movement speed or protection buffs/debuffs.
Usage Tips[]
Ultra Instinct, despite having a unique counterattack ability upon activation, is still vulnerable to charged heavy hits which result in the user’s guard being broken. There is a small window where the opponent can either Reverse Burst Dash or hit the user with a charged heavy hit and break their guard if they attempt to transform outright, so it’s better to get a knockback or a guard break before attempting to transform. It isn’t recommended to try to rely on the counter to be able to transform outright into Ultra Instinct due to this fact. The counter upon activation should only be used if the opponent tries to attack the user. Timing the activation of the form before the opponent is able to hit the user will result in a successful counterattack
The form’s Auto Dodge ability comes with a major drawback. Since the Auto Dodge uses 100 stamina (1 bar) each time, if the user’s stamina is low and they get trapped in a dodging loop, they might have their guard broken rather quickly/easily. Data Input is a good skill to use alongside Ultra Instinct because of its reduced stamina cost per dodge even though it can only dodge melee attacks. The form’s Auto Dodge will then act as a backup and help the user avoid regular Ki blasts. Data Input is not required to use alongside Ultra Instinct but it makes the Auto Dodge ability much more forgiving so it’s recommended for users with low stamina.
Ultra Instinct on its own DOES NOT give the user any buffs/debuffs to stats whatsoever. However, this can be circumvented with a good Super Soul used alongside it
Suggestions for Super Souls to use in conjunction with the form include but aren’t limited to:
•Gotenks’ “Damn…Gonna have to go all out!” which gives a 30% buff to damage and speed, but also a 10% defense debuff
•Restrained Broly’s "This place will be your grave!" which gives a 20% damage and Ki restoration buff after transforming, the latter compensating for the Ki restoration debuff prior to transforming
•Frieza’s “Any taller and it would be unnatural!” which gives a 5% damage buff which becomes a 15% buff after a brief period
•Piccolo’s “Shenron really went the extra mile” which gives +10% damage resistance and Ki regen
•Zarbon's "You've awakened my true power..." which gives 20% stamina regen and a 5% damage buff when transforming
Gotenks’ Super Soul is best for damage albeit the debuff. Restrained Broly’s is a good alternative to Gotenks’ despite the lesser damage, its only debuff staying active only so long as the user is untransformed. Frieza’s is a good alternative however despite not having the debuff the damage buff isn’t as great. Piccolo’s is good for defense and Ki regen. Zarbon's Super Soul is a good way to keep your stamina high and also give you a small damage boost when transforming
Trivia[]
- Ultra Instinct is the second Awoken Skill added in 2023, the other being Beast in March.
- It also marks the first time in the game’s history where 2 Awoken Skills have been added back-to-back within the same year.
- It is the only Awoken Skill to not grant an increase to either Super or Normal attack damage, nor does it provide any Speed boost.
- Ultra Instinct changes the user’s eye texture to the same texture as Goku (Ultra Instinct), with varying sizes of the iris and pupil based upon the user’s customization
- The form, when added in October 2023 with Update 1.21.00 aka the “Big Free Update”, used to burn 5 Ki bars upon transforming, similar to Beast and Pure Progress. However as of Update 1.22.00 this is no longer the case and the user will keep the same amount of Ki they had prior to transforming. The form still requires 500 Ki however
